A History of
Excellence
In the almost 50 years of Texas Beta the men of the chapter have
excelled across the campus as well as at the national level. From
1961 through 1964 the chapter was in the top ten among ALL
fraternities across America in total group GPA. Among that group
were men bound for success including Federal Judge Sam Cummings,
Lubbock mayor Alan Henry, and Major General Walter Huffman (now
Dean of the Law School at Texas Tech).
This performance does not come free and potential members should
consider their own personal philosophy as to dedication to
improving their minds and spirit. Our members are not
"drafted" into campus and community service...rather we
seek out those men who desire to give back to society.
The chapter has competed effectively at the level of the national
organization. Several brothers have been awarded national
scholarships including "Tutor-in-Residence",
"Summerfield Scholars", as well as served the
headquarters as traveling Educational Leadership
Consultants.
